    I think Cormorants are so dramatic looking and this one especially with these rich colors. Thanks for looking and C&C appreciated.

    Canon 40D; Av f5.6, eval -1/3; 1/1000; ISO 160 and 100-400L @400.

    You nailed the exposure. I think I would crop some of the bottom. Love the head angle and the feathers sticking up on the head.

    Way to go! These birds are great photo models and you can even see why it is called a double-crested cormorant in the photo. They don't always show that.
    I wonder about the crop. To me it feels like it is either too much or too little. Maybe half a bird doesn't work well: ned either a tight head crop or the whole thing?
    Very well done on exposure, sharpness, head angle, bg.

    Thank you, all! I rather liked this one myself.:D Gail and Carole, I wondered about the crop, too---not having the whole bird I tried a couple of different options and settled on this one.

    when i look at these, the first thing i look at is the eye. love to see the light reflecting in their beautiful eyes and it's perfect here!!! great job, katie!!
