Monitor recommendation
I'd like to upgrade my monitor and would appreciate recommendations on the brand, size and specifications to look for. My budget runs from $250 (if there's a quality monitor in the price range) to about $1,000.
Thanks!

nothing for $250 if you are critical about color but for $1000 you can get a good 27" IPS panel from HP. a bit more and you can get the Zr30W, the 30" pro model. for image editing a big monitor makes a big difference!

Thanks so much. I searched for earlier threads, but they all seemed to be at least a couple years old. One did mention that an IPS was preferred over other types of LED monitors, which you also stated, so I'll make sure to keep that in mind.

Hey Arash, do you know how the Dell U3011 compares to the HP Zr30w? IIRC you used the U3011 in the past?
I've been eyeing these two and can't seem to be able to decide.

I have a DELL U3011 at my office, colors are too saturated and not as good as the HP. I use HP for photo processing.

I'm a fan of the NEC monitors which have hardware LUT's and their Spectraview software. With the puck and software the 27" is a bit over your price range, but I paid $1284 for the combination. And you only need the software and puck once if you buy more.
I've had my LCD2490WUXi for quite a while, it's been terrific and is almost completely stable (i.e. when I recalibrate every month or so it doesn't change visibly at all, and hardly at all by measurement). I just added a PA271W. While I am confused by the wide gamut somewhat, the color accuracy and stability have been great, and the software is more straightforward certainly than the Spyder software I used before.
