Hey Ken,
I'm doing a too much debate with myself right now. Exposure, light look pretty good.....maybe a touc bright w/flash for some....but I am OK with it......my debate is this: is it just too much room for a portrait? Sharpness on head/face/legs is outstanding with great munching action......not too fond of the right 1/3......although not sure I want to see the whole body either. I'm thinking tube.....and concentrate on top 1/3 munching....tighter portrait. Make sense?
Beautiful details and sharpness. I liked both the compositions.
But where am unsure is if the blue BG (probably sky?) goes well with the colours of this caterpillar...
Ken, I also like both posts but agree with Kaushik that the depth of the sky almost overwhelms the caterpillar. I lightened it up a bit with a push on the mid and upper tones in levels just to see what it would look like, This is what I came up with.
I like both portraits,. In the cropped version I notice the little details around the head more, which is nice. I think I prefer the lighter sky, but the original did not bother me. Great detail!
