John lovely sharpness and detail particularly on the head, think the vegetation in the mouth adds to the picture, looks like the belly is full of grass our maybe could it be a calf?I have tried taking some off the top removing the dark bits and think that helps the Deer to stand out more but just my taste of course, like this image a lot.

Hello John,
Just read your reply to Keith...was just about to ask, is this Doe girl having a baby soon
Lovely image and very nicely composed. Good HA and POV as well as eye contact, which makes it a very attractive frame IMO. Colours also look good.
BG helps create a wonderful 3D feel. A little tempted to reduce the brightness on those tall grasses/reeds - a mere suggestion, in case you feel like experimenting a bit:)
I like this as presented, John. One of your cutest and prettiest subjects and I took great pleasure viewing, thank you for sharing!
Kind regards,
Gabriela Plesea
I really like the environmental elements in your frame John. My first thought was 3D then read Gabriela's note and it's good that we see in a similar way. Lovely separation, eye contact and it is so dang sharp.
I bought my fiancee the same lens and have so far been very impressed with its sharpness and performance at a couple of airshows I attended. Sigma have really come a long way with their glass in the last six or so years.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful image, looking forward to hopefully a doe shot soon! :)
Hi John - This looks much better to me in terms of color. Love the eye contact and the bit of plants in the mouth. I would prefer a bit more room below for the virtual legs and then some. In fact, I would move the doe higher in the frame taking some from the top (where the darkest patches of bg are) and then have more below. I would normally prefer more ss but it seems to have been sufficient to freeze the chewing action here.
TFS,
Rachel
Very nice colours and tones here John, lovely HA & POV also with the chewing grass working well. Agree on a tad more lower room and a little from the top, not easy unless you have much more of the tree line?
