Shooting up does add to a different perspective here, but the comp isn't grabbing me Jon. There are some 'cosmetic' adjustments you could do which takes it up a notch, but you I think you just like to post these days.
Hopefully more to come in the coming months.

Composition as I mentioned isn't grabbing me either. Your assumption over posting is incorrect, I am always open to suggestions.

Hi Jon ... i do not the shooting angle .
I think the image should go cooler , wider in comp and it would have been better when the left subject was more in focus , rather than the right stag .
Just my take .

Thanks Andreas, I wasn't entirely happy I will try cooler, I think I did take images with either stag in focus I will check.

I like it. The shooting angle is fine with me. Yes, to wider for some balance. A nice high key image. Hope you get some good frames during the rut.

Hello Jon,
Thank you so much for sharing this image, the composition is indeed a bit problematic but I do like the point of view here.
Also, I wish for a better head angle from the subjects, since one is looking towards the camera and the other looking away - I think direction is important because it helps a viewer interpret the scene.
Colours look good as well as tonality. The Deer on the RHS of the image appears sharper than the one on the LHS.
Stunning specimens in great condition, I hope you get more opportunities with them and they cooperate next time
Wishing you a wonderful rest of the week,
Warmest regards,
