Looks pretty good given the 2x and high ISO. The eye contact is fantastic - best part of the image IMO. I do think the bird is lost in the crop as is. Bottom of the frame feels a bit empty with the leaves at the top and the bird's upwards gaze. Don't know what you cropped away, but I'd play around a bit to see what else you can generate.

Hi David, nice image of a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher. The colors and detail look good. I agree with Dan, maybe crop more off the bottom. I think the IQ will hold up to the crop. You were fortunate to have the separation between the leaf and the tail. Thank you for sharing.

I agree with cropping much of the bottom for the reasons already stated. I love the pose and the large leaf above. I also like the bit of spider web.
