Canon 1 DX1 600mm v.3
ISO 1600 F 8.0 SS 1/2000
Shot as a vertical. 80% FF. Nothing added or cloned.
Not baited.
Some may wish for the image to be warmed up a bit but it was a cold winter day and accurately represents the light and colors.
Comments and critiques always appreciated and learned from with thanks,
Gail
A very nice capture Gail, nicely executed and I like the fact it's looking at you.
Personally, having the post & vegetation a fraction warmer, and teasing out a bit more of the finer detail within, I think helps, but your call. Having a cleaner FG without the grey wispy bits helps IMHO.
What a gem! Love the color palette, and of course the nice stare from the owl. Not to mention the frosty environment. The "wispy bits" could go, but if this is "pure", nothing added nothing cloned, then I would stick to the purity. Congratulations on a beauty.
Beautiful frame Gail, even with the man made structures this looks totally natural, as after all, these are the kind of areas owls favour. Detail looks about right to me, I'd definitely keep in all the wispy bits - its very rare you get a clean foreground naturally, given all the other wispy stalks that would have to remain in the shot.
Very nice indeed. I often leave the color temp. as shot to capture what it really looked like, vs. perhaps a slightly more neutral temperature. All about telling the story.
Very nice all around. I think the perch/fence makes this one gives a nice sense of the setting. I like it cool as presented. Nice and cold image in the snow.
Wow!! What a beautiful scene and setting Gail. Love the coldness. Cant wait to finally see one of these beauties some day. Well done

Tanfastic. I would love to see a version with about half of the empty space on the left cropped away as the left side is not as detailed in interestng as the right. Otherwise mega!

These are circumstances with I can only dream off in my country. Snow and ice are providing such great opportunities, it's getting so pure everything if you know what I mean.
I love the colour temp because it looks very natural. Nice pole with the vegatation, this makes the image very interesting. There is more to look at!! Maybe a bit less space on the left will makes the whole a bit stronger, but only a third of it?? I'll like the "out of balance" way the fence is.
All togehter, a really great image.
