We headed out away from shore
Our vessel was fairly new
The morning light kissed the white caps
As we faded out of view
A tiny speck is how we felt
As we rolled across the surf
Our course was set as we sailed off
To the corners of the Earth
As night time came it felt so calm
We were headed out to sea
The sound of water swept the sides
As we rolled along gently
As the daylight merged into the night
Our days were slipping fast
Miles away from any port
All good weather soon would pass
The crashing waves across the deck
Gave us reason to be scared
Our sails had ripped from the main
And our navigation failed
Our eyes were pelted by the rain
And the wind was whipping fast
We bailed the boat and held on tight
In hopes the storm would'nt last
Soon the night broke through the clouds
And a calmness was in the air
We reset our course amidst the stars
We did this with great care
As the sun peeked in from the east
We were sure we'd find our way
We knew then we'd live to tell our tale
And sail another day
I added a few treatments to the sail to give it a more ominous look.
