Lovely exposure on this high-contrast subject, Jonathan. These were common in the Northeastern US but absent from the West Coast. Getting a bit lower would have helped to reduce the rings and make the subject pop a bit more, but this angle is still decent. Love the curious look and direct stare. I might lift the shadows and/or the brightness a bit. The image fells a bit muted as presented. I'd also clone the 3 white specks on the black flank.

Would not change a thing . The darks look good , can be even pushed further .... but not lifted IMHO .

Really nice image of a beautiful duck. Love the golden water. I like the fact that you can see the patterns on the yellow skin patch above the bill as well as lots of details on the breast feathers.
