Love the bird, the perch, the head angle, and the inquisitive pose. Which 300 lens? The light oval of green above and behind the bird is less than ideal.
Do you use Topaz DeNoise???

I use only cs6, should have used noise reduction on the background, the lens is the 300 f 2.8

Jack nice pose and the log is to kill for. Great Ha and I loved that three hundred that is all I used to shoot with. The green in the upper corner as mentioned does distract. TFS

Lovely pose. Really like that moss covered perch. The use of flash is very subtle.

Hi Jack, very pleasing frame.
Super head angle, love the mossy perch and solid composition. This is one frame where I feel like my eyes want the perch sharpened a touch (and a touch of NR), but others may disagree.
Nicely done overall!

Details looks great with the 2X. And the flash isn't overdone, so that's good. Moss and engaging head angle really make this nice. I only want more room at left as he's looking into the short side of the frame as it is. Makes the right hand side
feel like an afterthought. I don't mind the OOF foliage above and behind. It's very diffuse and adds a nice pop of color.

Hi Jack ... a very nice image .
Pose is good , as is the overall design . Perch is lovely and I do like the overall hues of the greens .
The BG with the color variation is looking to me .... matter of taste .
Yes to a tiny bit more of NR and I might remove the " flash" from that eye .
Nice one and TFS Andreas

Hey Jack,
Revisiting this one, I gotta say that the bird is nicely positioned in the frame with more than twice as much room in front of the bird than behind.
