Hi all .... this little chap was trying to get an overview , maybe checking out where his mum was gone .
One of the world largest colonies of this species . located on the Namibian west coast . Up to 300.000 animals in peak times !!
Access is basically only possible from a short boardwalk .... even occupied by the seals . If you try to go somewhere else to get a view from another point .... animals become nervous and just start running away to the ocean .
Canon EOS 1Dx II
EF 200-400 IS L with TC engaged ( 560 mm )
Handheld
F 6,3 ; Iso 4000 ; 1/1600 sec
Processed with DPP 4 and PSCC 2021 ; slightly cropped and added canvas afterwards .... basically full frame
Thanks for looking and commenting to my previous posting
Little to no noise delightful colours and tones, my only slight reservation is that the subject is smack dab central - not "wrong" but if you chopped a little off the LHS - ??
Thanks Jon ...... understand your reservation , had that in mind but wanted to stay in 3x2 . So had to make a compromise and think the body is turned to the RHS .... so the RHS is less empty and things are somehow balanced , albeit not being perfect .
Very sweet little pup, truly adorable. Well spotted Andreas!
Love the innocent look and pose, nice techs, good DoF. Subject stands out really nicely. Central positioning not too bad in this instance, I do understand your thinking and 'compromise'.
My eyes are drawn every now and then to the little face in the corner on the RHS, what a cute face I really enjoyed this image, you must have lots from this sighting?
Nice image and understand on the crop. Details are superb and love the way he sticks out center stage. Love the moody overall look guessing it was a cloudy day. TFS
Hey Andreas, I'm happy to make a comment! Not ready to have this part of the woods die off yet!
Love the look of the pup - seems to me to be looking for where he might cause trouble.
Details in the fur are great, as expected... I think that I would probably pull the top left corner in a little to remove the dark OOF animal on the edge and move the left edge in slightly. Perhaps that is going to put the head too close to the top, but an alternative solution.
