Though common around the Bay Area in winter, these only visit my local shorebird spot occasionally. The few that do invariably fly-by high overhead, and I've had one only other water-level flight opportunity in the four years I've frequented the location (and I f'ing missed it because I was chimping!!!!). So, this represents overdue redemption. It is my first flight frame of this species, North America's largest shorebird.
