Hi folks ... and specially Colin ... as he was almost begging , that I should post an image for comparison due to my critiques to his postings in general .
Most of you should know ... I am not a that great again photographer , and bird in flight ...... well well . Nevertheless if I get opportunities I try !!!
Here is an old file from 2014 , taken on Helgoland Island .Only option to find the Gannets in Germany .
Image was taken in evening light .... one of those pale evenings where it is bright with no warm light .
Canon EOS 1Dx
EF 200 - 400 IS L with TC engaged
HH
F 8 ; Iso 5000 ; 1/2000 sec ; man exp and auto iso
Processed with DPP 4 and PSCC 2020 ; cropped to 70 % of FF
Tranks for looking and commenting to my previous posting
Great pose and nice subtle colors on the bird. Could probably crop tighter on the top but works as is as well. What are those bright string-like things on the feet?
Nicely angled pose, good to get the head almost square to he sensor. Might be the individual bird but he does look a little pale to me, could be the shadowless light light playing its part as well I suppose. All else is good
Comp is good. Exposure excellent and the whites look great.
I love that the green foot markings are clearly visible. Adds interest to the image.
I have to agree with Dan that it is unusual to see a gannet banded.
Just wish that the near wing had been more extended but certainly not a deal breaker.

Beautiful view! Loving the pastel tones and cracking detail across the bird. So few shots reveal their striped feet like this! Great eye contact and pose. yeah it would be nice if the left wing was a bit higher, but this is still really sweet, band or not.
Andreas, for me the image is very well processed, I am sure you will have done this an rejected it but if you make a curves luminosity adjustment layer and bring the curve down literally one or two clicks is is remarkable how much more feather detail appears and you see a hint of yellow on the underside.
Thanks Dorian , John and Jon for your kind comments , much appreciated .
Jon ... always room to play when it comes to tone and color , and your suggestion can be done . For the time being I leave it the actual way I posted it .
