    Often called the May bug but they also fly in months other than May . Cockchaffer is an old English name for big beetle and beetles they are , i.e. they are not bugs.
    I found it in my mini-meadow. After photographing it in the early hours of the morning I thought it was asleep but eventually I realised it was dead!
