Hello Friends! Thanks for ALL the welcoming comments and critiques! My first shot ever brought up a conversation regarding whether to blur or not to blur - especially when it comes to birds with longer bills staring right down the barrel. I'm really interested to hear more, so here is a cotton ball with eyes shot in the Galapagos at Darwin Bay last August with Arthur Morris.
Love it but for the black blob upper left ... The EXP is good and the eyes are dead sharp. On the chick's upper breast on our right (as presented above) I noticed a fairly large area of hot WHITE without much detail. When I brought the image into Photoshop I found RGB values as high as 253, 253, 255 ... I generally like my brightest WHITEs to have RGB values in the mid 230s, sometimes as high as the low to mid 240s ...
with love, artie

Pretty much ditto Arthur's comments. The eyes here are beautiful. Some of the whites do look a bit hot and the black blob isn't ideal. This is a really pretty frame still though and those eyes are captivating. TFS
Fantastic focus on the eyes - I love the result on the face. Good placement in the frame. I agree about that area in the BG, but high-impact image nonetheless!
