Gangetic fresh water crocodile, Juvenile in water
Canon EOS 7D , 500 f/4,@ f/5, i/1600, ISO 160, Matrix metering, HH, 20 crop from original. PS CC 2017, curves, brightness, contrast, Sharpening
This juvenile of a fast dwindling species gave a feast to the eyes in the early morning sun.
P.S. The POV couldn't have been lower since this was from a boat & this was the lowest one could go.
Thanks for viewing
All critique is welcome.
Thanks & regards

Hi Abhijit - Nice to see another species. I like the open mouth and visible teeth. The multiple reflections are somewhat distracting. If it were mine I would consider going to more of a thin pano crop to avoid them, if the IQ will hold up.
Nice one, Abhijit. This is a fascinating looking reptile. That long, thin snout/mouth is remarkable. Detail and colour look great to me. I wonder if this would look better with more tonal range or contrast on the croc. As for composition, in general it looks fine to me but I feel this could look better with some clockwise rotation even though the current presentation may reflect a level image capture (I'm guessing this is why you haven't rotated it to make the water and croc level in the frame?). Nice image all the same and I enjoyed looking.
Hi Glenn,
Thanks for your words.
Let me assure you, it doesn't look the same with the rotation. Actually loses a bit of the steam.
Tried it, didn't like it & hence this post.
Thanks fr the inputs.
Thanks Again
Abhijit
Yes for me, very nicely presented well focused, good clean detail and contrast. Gangetic -I am not familiar with this word perhaps is it another word for Garial/Gharial or does it mean a species associated with the Ganges?
Hi Jonathan,
Thanks. Have presented it as i saw it. As for the Gangetic- it derives from the fact that the species is originally a resident of the Ganges river. But now due to the seevere grades of pollution it is no longer seen it in the ganges in the numbers it earlier used to be.

What a cool croc! I love the long thin snout, and the spaced teeth. Good texture to the skin along the back. I'm with Rachel in regards to the extra reflections, but what a beautiful image nonetheless.
Hello Doc -- This is a beautiful image with the subject in nice light . Agree with the above suggestions especially reg the reflections but a very nice image .
Hi, Haseeb!
Thanks. Kept the multiple reflections on purpose, can crop it, the IQ is good. Learning a bit from masters like you, breathing the same air as you!
Thanks for your words.

Abhijit
What an interesting looking subject you have here, love the pose and the saw-like snout as well as teeth (sharp like needles). Very well captured!
I am happy with POV, what I could perhaps suggest is that you try make the croc stand out more? Here's a humble attempt, I should have made the changes selectively but I think you get the idea...Hope I did not go too far, played with curves and saturation as well as exposure in PSCC, cropped just a tad further to get closer to this awesome chap...
Let us have some more please... Enjoyed viewing, thank you so much for sharing!
Hi Gabriela,
Thanks for looking by. I like what you have done, but in doing so the essence of the natural camouflage of the species -blending with the mud & water is getting lost a bit. I had done that actually in my workflow, but decided against it since it was looking a bit artificial to my eye. But i think i can incorporate a few changes you have made here.
Thanks once again for stopping by & also for the Nice RP.
