Captured this image of a Common Pauraque, a lifer for me, at Estro Llano Grande, lower Rio Grande Valley, Texas a little over a week ago. We saw these nocturnal birds at three different locations, and as you can see or not see, they are well designed to blend into their surroundings extremely well. Good thing if they are on the ground they seem to pick a location next to a tree or near brambles, but makes it very difficult to avoid intersecting branches or twigs when photographing them.
