Ruffled flap - common loon shaking it out

This common loon was imaged a month ago, doing a little feather maintenance . Unusual to get an eye open during the neck twist.

D810 600mm VR f/8 ISO 500 1/2000sec

modest crop for comp.

Would have preferred the horizon line not through the neck, but changing my elevation wasn't an option. I felt it was soft enough to work.

Taken from bottom of my little boat, Loonie Too!
