C? these mice have taken up home in my green house running wild, with a bit of food here and there they give me great fun trying to photograph them, hope you like this one.
Just beautiful Mate cool use of the poppy head adore the BKG. Keith one for the others to comment on ,but i'm a bit insecure on the IQ of the mouse,it doesn't look quite as sharp as you shots normally are. It might be me Keith in part why I'm raising it. Lovely to see Keith your mice always bring joy on viewing,I don't think you have posted one that hasn't made me smile. Maybe a call to pull him slightly right ,just a tiny bit framing wise.
But beyond the little nits a lovely frame Keith makes my weekend when you post one of these
Hi Keith you must love your mice ....!!
How do you tell them to climb that tree , looks gorgeous .
I like the simplicity of the frame and the pose of the little mouse . Overall i think i would burn the HL a fraction and drop the saturation a bit , specially the red/orange .
Are the mice that red/orange in real life ?
I do miss some fine detail in the fur ...why not pushing the ISO for gaining more SS and with this you might have finer detail in the fur .
Nevertheless a nice frame and great to see tiny little stuff .
Hi Keith - Thanks for posting a mouse for this month's theme. The simplicity of this is great and it really pops (no pun intended) against the bg. I love the pose with the long tail hanging down. I might have gone vertical here but this crop works too. Yes to a bit more ss. I also don't know the true colors and agree with Andreas about the reds and oranges. Looking forward to more.
Thanks Stu,I'm always a bit apprehensive about the amount of sharping I use but do agree it does need a bit more, hope the repost does it.Thanks Andreas, colour on these is a bit difficult to say the least they vary from a dull grey to a very orange red as they come into breeding conditions,I have dropped the reds and orange a bit on the repost, would like to know what you think,Thanks Rachel you have got me getting my camera out,I will post some more very soon.
Hi Keith well i can cannot tell , as you know how they do look in real life .
You have introduced more black to the RP which is not ideal i think .
Cheers Andreas
I absolutely adore this little mouse thank you so much for sharing! Beautiful pose and perfect HA! I tend to agree with Andreas and Rachel in terms of SS. And I really think you should get that camera out more often, my friend A bit concerned about the amount of noise in the BG and the cute little mousie looks a tad crunchy to me. Is this a big crop, and did you use contrast in PSCC? Would love to see the RAW, do you mind?
Thanks Andreas sometimes I try to improve things and do the opposite. Thanks Gabriela appreciate your thoughts,I will pm you about the raw file if that's ok.I will also post another with a faster shutter speed to see if I am making any improvement,on the colur thing I would appreciate anyone having a go and giving me there version.
Hi Keith, love the perch and overall capture, the green backdrop works well to separate the subject, so well done, a bit more time and this has the 'hallmarks' of being an exceptional image.
The slow SS has not been in your favour, you have a D4 so use the ISO it will help. I would also look at more DoF say f/9 to get that tail in focus and as the BKG, I would guess is far enough away, you would still retain that defused look. The OP is far better and agree with Andreas, adding Contrast or Black has not helped. The Exposure looks good, the Dark shadow elements are chocked. With some careful, yet simple layers & masking you can bring out more depth & detail from the 'perch' and some more sharpening on the subject does help too.
How about a hint of Fill-in flash here???
Hope this helps, added a small vignette to focus the viewer .
