Hi David, well exposed on the Heron, and I really like how the colours of the BG compliment the Heron. Whilst not the best wing position, he may have been gliding. If not, capturing a sequence and then choosing the best wing position may have worked better. I like that you have left the grasses in.
This fellow is identical to our Grey Herons here in SA. I was actually shooting some this past saturday.
Nice and sharp with a great BKGR. The wing-position shadow under the near wings hurts is a bit. With the pancake wings it would have been great if the bird were angled a lot more towards you. a
