the light is magic, so is the BG and eye contact. I think you can extract more details out of this frame.
Excellent work

Terrific shot, well caught, I would suggest toning down the highlights.

Thanks for the comments guys.
Johnathan, Thanks as always for your help. Does the under wing or the rump look too bright on your monitor? It dose not on mine so I would like to know if it is me. Sometimes if your brightness is set to high, things look too bright or not enough. Lets see what the others see. Thanks again

Beautiful light David and super pose. I am also finding it a bit bright and dont get the normal detail in this one (but might be me). Still great regardless

Sweet shot, David! Great light, flight pose, and bg. The exposure looks perfect to me, not too bright. The perceived lack of detail in the bright areas is likely due to the very smooth feathers in those areas. There usually isn't much detail visible and this is normal.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
Thanks Jim. You are right in that some feathers on Harriers and allot of other birds look soft with the naked eye and lack any fine details. Some Terns, especially their underwings, lack feather detail.
I know from shooting Bonaparte's gulls that they have very soft feathers on most of their breast and give the illusion of being soft or OOF when in fact they are sharp.
That being said, I do see a difference in some of the stuff that I shot and processed a few years ago. The 1DX and the 600II give me consistently better and sharper files to work with.
Thanks again.
