Hi Rachel, the light is gorgeous & so is the animal. Those horns look sharp & menacing. Nice look at the habitat & the grass in the mouth takes this up further. Awesome animals. Hope we humans allow them to thrive. TFS.

Dearest Rachel,
Wonderful sighting of this beautiful black rhino, the light brings out its beautiful features and reveals so much detail.
Lovely capture, nice work in the field and well processed, I cannot think of a better framing and the pose is superb - I like this so much
Warmest regards,

Thanks Sanjeev and Gabriela. I'm glad you like this one. She was impressive but interestingly she had a couple of cracks in her horn.

Great shot, Rachel and in really beautiful light. Clarity, tones and colours of this all look excellent. I like the vegetation in the mouth too. I'd be interested where you took this. Really nice work!
As an aside, we saw quite a few black rhino in Namibia. In fact, one night at the waterhole by our lodge, a large crowd of guests gathered as 9 black rhino turned up for a drink, bathe and snack. A couple of them came within 4 or 5 metres of the fence where we were standing and happily grazed away on the bushes seemingly oblivious to us and the many other people there. An amazing experience. No photos possible though.

Hi Rachel -- Yesterday i saw this one on my cell phone and I was so eager to see it on a big screen and i must say it looks fantastic. Lovely light and so pleasing to see a relaxed Rhino doing what it should be allowed to do freely. Such a heart warming sight . Enjoyed this image immensely. TFS !

Thanks Glenn and Haseeb for the kind comments. Glenn - as I said in the PM, we try not to discuss the location of rhinos publicly or include any GPS data when posting so as not to give the poachers any information.
Thanks again,
Rachel
