I caught this bird just as it was leaving the beach after it's morning of gravelling up on the low tide. Canon 5DIV, Sigma 150-600, f5-6.3 OS Contemp.. ISO 800,f/6.3, 1/1250

Bob nice down stroke of the wing. I am seeing a high noise especially in the background. The rocks or surf breaking takes away some IMO. TFS
Lovely flight pose, but I wish you had captured the shot when the bird was not flying away from us. I would try adding some blacks to the bird, it looks a wee bit washed out. Was this a big crop Bob, it does appear to be quite noisy.

I agree with both the critiques above. These guys are so much fun to observe - your image makes me look forward to their passing through during the fall in late October - early November over here.
Nice to see a brant. Agree with the others about the bird angling away. Is this a big crop?
Thanks guys---your comments are always educational and appreciated. Yes this is cropped to about 1/3--started as 6730 x 4480 and cropped to 3882 x 2588. This noise stuff I find to be tricky to spot. Now I looked at this in 4:1 and easily see noise in both blue BG and the whole bird. So I did a global NR reduction (LR) on the whole the thing watching the bird until the noise started to go away, but not detail, and stopping there . Then I masked out the bird and took the visible noise ( still in 4:1 ) out, which used up the entire slider on the adjustment brush. Did this approach work? I also reduced the black exposure.
this one isn't working for me, the bird is flying away and it is entirely soft and lacking in details as pointed out
TFS keep up the hard work
