Got this female on the blooming Prickley Pear Cactus by placing some orange pieces inside the flower;) That's her tongue sticking out.

Absolutely gorgeous, as always !
Great perch and love the backside view and the perfect lookback pose !
Only nit I can find is your spelling of "female". ;)
Exquisite as usual Alan!!
Just love the composition, exposure and detail and the excellent balance of natural light and fill-flash.
Hi Alan!
So beautiful Alan! I love how the little tongue mimics the cactus thorns, and I also love how the yellow patches on the head are repeated in the cactus flowers. Many thanks for telling us how you set this one up.
A stunning image,
So vibrant, the golden flowers compliment the golden feathers beautifully :-)
Jacqui

Like the dorsal view. Is that pollen on her beak or bits of fruit?

You never cease to amaze. Love the way the yellow on the bird goes with the yellow flowers.
Is the softer looking (not focus soft, but soft to the touch) area on her back from molting or is it usually like that?
The Master of the perch shines once more :)
Thanks for sharing this beauty!
This would look great on the wall Alan. I would be 100% completely satisfied with this capture. There is nothing to improve upon here, imo. ;)
Really nice work, Allen. The detail, composition and pose are all great.
Hi Alan,
There is almost never a nit to pick with your images and this one is no exception. I love everything about this.

Love it love it love it! Awesome perch awesome bird and the 'look back' is priceless. Excellent work.
Perfect composition, the the different shades of green and the repetition of the yellows is masterly planned. A great work of art, a painting with pixels:-)
Your pictures amuse me again and again!
keep on good work!
I like this a lot! Great setting, pose and details. The tongue puts it over the top. The black tail feathers look a bit contrasty on my monitor.
