This wren was attracted to the perch with small amount of peanut butter smeared on reverse side of cone.
Overcast sky which worked well here with the partly shadowed background. Canon EOS 7D, Canon 100-400mm lens, 1/400 sec at F7.1, natural light, tripod, hide.
John wished I had know about peanut butter when I was over there trying to photograph these Wrens. Pose of the bird ,BG,and the detail on the bird all look very good even the upright tail .
These little birds are so beautiful!
I really like the pose, the IQ, the BG with the splayed OOF grasses that create nice lines.
I am not crazy about the perch. I find the cone overwhelms the bird. I also feel the comp is a bit off and would add more room on the LHS.
Adding more to left would allow you to include the entire leaf and might balance the image so that the cone doesn't appear so large.
Still a very fine shot.

Bird is great as mentioned. Perky pose, colorful. The cone is interesting in its own right, but does compete for ones attention with the bird, as mentioned. If the bird was bigger, or the cone smaller, less of an issue. A minor point would be that I wish the one leaf wasn't so close to the bill. Looser crop as mentioned will reduce impact of cone, but also the bird, so not sure if it will help, but certainly worth a try.
Great bird with a super nice pose. The setting works for me as I like the cone and leaves including their size, but I agree the comp would work better with more room - especially left and below. Wondering if the contrast is a tad strong on the subject, the blacks are especially quite dark. A very entertaining image nonetheless.
The bird is simply stunning, with great techs. I'm thinking I wouldn't mind the size of the cone if it were sharp -- it is an interesting object -- but it's a very prominent part of the image to be slightly out of focus. I like the idea of a slightly looser crop so that you wouldn't have to cut off the several leaves.
