Taken early morning over cast with pockets of mist on grouse moor,cannon500mm IS,L,F4,700MM FL,hand held,crop,sharpened,SH,levels,iso2000,F5.6,1/1000S,5D MK111.
The best thing about this image is the great environment the bird is in. I really like the wildflowers and background. Good calling pose but would have liked a little more head turn towards us. I would also consider a little more room in front of the bird.
I would prefer more room behind and below.
The slight softness of the head is a bummer, as you
had got a lovely calling image here.
Love the wildflowers!
TFS!
Hi Chris, lovely calling pose, and I like the angle of the Grouse, as it follows the line of the top of the foliage. Another vote for a touch more space below and right.
Just a question, is this species this dark in colour. I was wondering if lightening it a touch, that it will show up the detail and colours a bit more.
Yes Stu it is,the male more red,it helps them blend in with the heather,I could lighten it a bit and sharpen some more, fom a short and long distance they are dark, and when I took this,it was a overcast day.thanks for looking and comments.
