When the loon chicks are too big to ride on the parents backs anymore ( 10-14 days old), they still like the protection and warmth of the parent, and will stick their head under the adults feathers. The parents are very tolerant of this.

Cleaned up a couple of water spots, toned down the catchlight reflection in the water (it was long and drawn out because of the shooting angle)
Very cool behavior you captured here. Nice and sharp as well. I do wish we could see the chicks head but then of course that would not be the same type of behavioral image!
Hi Randy, you could also call this swimming in tandem. Gotta love the water's reflection on the parents head. Your normal exposure and sharpness techs spot on as always.
