I had too much fun with this species this past fall migration. A species that is considered uncommon for us, so always a bonus to come across cooperative individuals like I had this year. This one was photographed just before the sun rose above the tree line behind me.
Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/400s., f/5.6, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, FF, a few imperfections removed from the surroundings, contrast and saturation to taste, usual eye work.
You gotta love pre-dawn light! Aother stunner. I love that we can see most of the feet. The BKGR colors are sublime.
