Diving Red Kite
There are a couple of places in Wales where there has been a concerted effort to regenerate the once suffering Red Kite population, and as part of the ongoing projects they do a small feeding session every day. This is from a place called Bwlch Nant yr Arian.
The birds will circle, ten if the spot one of the scraps of meat they turn and go into a fast dive. This is the start of one of the turns.

Ive enjoyed every one of your red kites and this one is a beauty as well! I like the colors, the head angle and the splayed tail feathers, so well done!

Killer BG !
Tack sharp and great HA.
Beautiful feather detail.
There is something that is bothering me about the "pasted" look of the kite against the BG. Did you blur the BG? Perhaps the kite is oversharpened/sharpening halo?
I could be way off here- really not sure,

Hi Mike, killer flight pose, and love the concentrated look in those eyes fixated on his next piece of food. Yes to being really sharp.

Very nice indeed Mike, focus is bang on, lovey pose and background. I have been there - quite picturesque around there from what I remember.

Hi Gail,
Thanks for the response, no blurring of the BG and very little sharpening as its pretty sharp to start off with. The only things I can think of is either I've been a bit heavy handed with the NR, or its the way the light has caught her - the light was unfortunately off angle from the left, but no option to move position,

It is Jon, lovely part of the world. I found it harder to shoot at than Gigrin due to some obstructions and light angle, but the ones I got right were much more pleasing

Beautiful flight pose ad background Mike. Beats photographing them from the M40 motorway!

This is a nice one, Mike - almost too good as Gail's comments suggest
The position is great and the lighting spot on despite being 'off angle'

Wow this is fantastic Mike. The pose is awesome and the colors and details look great too. I would be tickled with a frame as nice as this.
Very well captured

For me this is an amazingly wonderful image. Aside from the fact that it looks like a watercolor painting what I like the most is the save the image look back head angle. I would not mind a bit more room all around. Where was the bird in the original frame?
with love, artie

Hi Artie, thanks for that. This is the full frame. I left the DPP4 adjustments in place but nothing done in PS to this, just a resize and export for web

Excellent bank and a very nice head turn Mike, you nailed it. I'd still go for a vertical but would extend canvas on both top and bottom
Excellent frame
