    Yves, another beauty!
again I think your sharpening workflow is letting you down...the majority of the fur is just too smooth, while the face looks 'crunchy'...
How do you sharpen for the web? Do you run noise reduction on the animal as well?

Thank you Morkel for your comment.

The focus was on the eyes and the DOF is at F5,6 with a 600 mm and a TC 1,4X : at about 40 feet distance the dof is about 4 inches. The paws, the ears and the face (from the nose) are sharp. The fur behind is not : to me it is simply OOF.

For the web, my workflow is simple : transfer to camera raw through PS5, then size reduction and selective sharpening with a special script then save as a .jpeg. In the script, the sharpening is applied selectively on the blacks of the picture and I do not run any noise reduction.

You might not like the end result but to me it is ok as is.

Hi Yves, to me the face looks patchy with inconsistent areas of OOF & sharpness which does not look right. The face has some detail, but lacks real definition, with the blacks becoming solid and contrasty. I would look at cropping some of the RHS to exclude the OOF green leaving coming in.

selective sharpening with a special script then save as a .jpeg. In the script, the sharpening is applied selectively on the blacks of the picture and I do not run any noise reduction.
Not convinced about the 'special script' and would suggest looking at the more conventional way to convert the image for web, including selective sharpening and compare the two, I think you may be pleasantly surprised.
