Just checked with a friend of mine who frequents Litte Estero. He indicated Estero has been really slow and that the shorebirds are in winter plumage so not too attractive for photography. He thinks when a good cold front comes in, it will pick up. If you google Little Estero Lagoon you will see a number of links there about bird photography at this spot.
If and when you do visit Little Estero Lagoon, the best place to park is at the Holiday Inn. When facing the hotel, park in the left hand back corner, walk toward the water/lagoon, and take a left. Continue to walk until you hit the beach area but there are photo opps along the way as well. Good luck.
