Night space shuttle launch
Just rolled in. Been up 24 hours +. Only one I feel like editing and probably did a half hearted effort. Got just a few but happy they were all spot on with exposure. She entered low level clouds very early so we were unable to track her down range.
God Speed Endeavour.
MKIII, EF 500 with 1.4x. 1/640, F6.3, ISO 200, Manual exposure and focus, remotely fired.

Sleep deprivation is not an issue when you get to witness and capture an event as this. Excellent.

Very nice Mike, very nice indeed... How close were you to the launch site? I assume you were at one of the general public access viewing sites? I have lived in FL for almost 5 years now and still have yet to see a launch. I fully intend to see one before my career takes me elsewhere...
We purchased tickets that take you on a bus to the closest available site for the public. No complaints where I was taken . I set up just about 150 feet from where the V.I.P., family members bleachers were. If you ever want to go to this spot you have to get them with in 2 minutes of when they announce they are on sale because they sell out that fast.Originally Posted by Josh O'Donnell

Really nice Mike. Not always easy to get good night launch images. Shame that she disappeared into the clouds so quickly.

WOW! You sure did a lot better than I did. You must have been fairly close since you don't seem to have any atmospheric distortion. I was shooting from Port Canaveral, some 13 miles away and this is the best I could do...

Love the photograph Mike (and Dennis)! I watched the launch from south Miami...not the best view, but absolutely amazing/exhilarating to see the launch live on TV and to step outside and see the "rockets red glare". Even from 220+ miles it began with a discernible tail and then faded to a point of light much like a star as it continued downrange.
