    Default Lily Pad Abuse

I'd be surprised if you can even tell it's a lily pad! Pixel Bender filters smudge and twirl, border created separately and twirled to start with before the flattened image was twirled.

Looks like a piece of fabric. If you hadn't said anything I may have guessed leaf but what kind I could never have told you. Very nice mix of colors and the framing is interesting.:)

Judy, really nice abstract look to this. I like the subtle colors a lot.

You really did a number on this one! I love the way you laid it out within the frame and the colors are lovely together.

Thanks for the comments. I should add that when you use twirl, it will make the black rippled areas you see along the edge, so you either accept them or use a big crop and crop that part off. After I did the first stage using smudge filter, I selected the outer edge and created a frame as per my tutorial earlier. Then I ran Pixel Bender twirl just on the frame layer so a little of it was out of the frame. (I also saved it not twirled so I could use it as-is.) I flattened the image and twirled the whole thing. I think the black parts showing and not all of the border showing add to the abuse factor. :D

This is very cool! I had a little trouble following what you've done, but I love the outcome. I think the black around the edges looks great! I need to play with twirl in PB! There are so many things to play with in that program and so little time. :D

That's the spirit Judy! You stepped a little farther out of the box and came up with something very interesting. Love the textures and undulation of the patterns which gives it a 3D look. Does look like a throw or a piece of cool fabric. Nice work!

    Nice image and application, Judy.

    Like the abstract effect.

Might have tired to avoid cutting the edges off, but ... nice as is.

Thanks Mark. Unfortunately the twirl filter does cut off the edges, that's just the way it works... you gotta have a lot of extra room in the frame to be able to crop that off.
