I am headed to Kodiak tomorrow and if the weather is better than expected, then to Katmai via float plane to meet the bear boat for a week of fun. This is a rare bear blur. I got very lucky with the red flower.

It was a while ago but I think that this may have been a failed zoom blur that worked out OK :)

Canon 100-400mm IS L lens handheld with the EOS 20D--I told you it was an old photo! ISO 400. Evaluative metering -1/3 stop: 1/8 sec. at f/18.

Don't be shy; all comments welcome.

ps: I used a new technique that Denise taught me to lighten the bear without lightening the BKGR; she calls it "Painting In An Effect." Her tutorial will be featured in BAA Bulletin 337 that will be sent on Tuesday. You will be able to access it via the Recent Bulletins tab on the Blog. Better yet, go to the home page or the blog and subscribe; they are free and educational :)

An oldie but a goodie! I love the motion and splashing and the flower is perfect in the corner there. I like how the rocks (I think) frame the bottom edge of the frame. Very nice.

Safe travels Artie! Looking forward to some awesome images.

Lovely blur, Artie. I especially like the effect on the water and the splash of color that the flower adds. Have a safe trip! :)

Artie, I love it for all the reasons above, esp the flower. I hope you have a safe, productive trip:)
