This is quite a fancy one! Great colors and wings (?). How did you manage to get such an even BG? I think I would crop some off the left, and maybe a bit off the top. What is the halo I'm seeing around the front antenna, mouth, front leg? I like the angle of the bug on the leaf.

    Hey Ovidiu,
That is one colorful stink bug!!! You do appear to have a bit of a halo but you did manage nice isolation and a good pose. I do wonder if a bit different angle would get more in focus but that may bring other distracting BG elements into play.....although in this case I may want a touch more texture there as it appears a bit too flat. I'd go with the crop too...but that's my preference and am OK with it as you have it here too.

Found this bug in the garden perching (?) on the tip of a juniper, BG is the lawn (mowed:D), a bit of hue on the yellow channel. Halo might be from the pop -up flash...dont know...

Roman, I would also liked more dof, smaller aperture was not possible due quite low light, tried different angle but was not satisfied. Looking at exif seems that for this one I used the on camera flash. These bugs are flat and I think it's hard to get the head/eye and body in focus when shooting from one side.
Thanks for suggestions, have to try it again, maybe I'll get a better one.;)

Excellent shot, I suspect there is a little reflected light coming off the chitinous body and a reduction in Highlights would improve contrast a little.:)

Although I would normally suggest dropping down to get level with the bug, this angle works well on this particular one because of all that amazing color on its back. I think this could use a very slight contrast boost.

Is that halo as distinct on the original right out of the camera? What editor(s) are you using?

Ken, on RAW the "halo" around antena is there and at 200% looks like tiny hairs, used cs4.

Beautiful angle, Ovidiu! I think you did quite well here as we get to see some eye contact, the colors on the back, and the angle of those very fancy wings! I also would crop a bit left and top. I'm amazed that you get such a clear BG at f13.
