    Caught this snowy egret some time ago on a fly-by. Unfortunately, I shot this in JPEG so post-proceesing is a bit limited.
    D200 w 300/4 AF-S and TC-14E
    1/800s, f7.1, ISO200, spot-metering

    great pose and wing position i think. It does look as though the bird is almost flying away from you though. The bird also looks a little hot on the back of the neck. I absolutely love this background. did you blur it at all?

    The background is as shot - one of the few days we actually have cloud cover here in Santa Barbara. Agree on the hot spot on the neck - mistake in post-processing.

    I remember asking a similar question about the background when I first saw this shot elsewhere. Good timing to catch the wings mid-stroke.

    Agree with previous and can add you got some nice under wing detail !!! Might try the layer multiplying trick for the neck Could take care!!!

    Had another go at the processing - there is leeway in the original exposure - the hot neck region is an artifact from carelessness in one of the post-processing steps. Here is an updated version.

    Is there a hint of a halo on the front edge of the closest wing?
