    Default ID Please

    I have never seen one of these before, but it showed up in my yard the other day. Is it a Rufous-sided Towhee?

    Eastern Towhee.....male. I think they used to be called Rufous-sided but the name was changed to Eastern Towhee.

    Nice photo and thanks for posting. I now see the difference between what we now have in the west, the Spotted Towhee.

    Thanks for the info guys. What makes him so puffed up? The pictures I have seen look much more slender...

    They puff up in cold weather.
