Late october....the Kalahari ...the air is thick with dust...the wildebeest are making the way back from a water hole....their walk is slow and laboured ...life is hard this time of the year as food is scarce ...the kalahari and its inhabitants wait for the rains..but they are late...
I really like this, Peter! Sharp, just enough detail, fittingly moody. I think your perspective and choice of format help add to the sense of desolate discouragement. What were your other EXIF details?
Well Peter, you have the narration, where's the music? :) The hanging heads of the wildebeest, the hot orange, yellow, and red colors, and the dark, ominous strips across the top and bottom (giving the impression of even more pressure on their efforts to survive) add to your comments and make this a powerful thought-provoking image (at least to me). I like it.
Steve
Absolutely stunning atmosphere! I really love the panoramic framing, but I think the wildebeest are a bit too close to the edges of the frame, and that is a bit distracting. If you would have had just a little more space on the left and right it would have been more balanced,
Hi Peter,
I agree with Jasper here. The scene is amazing, almost unreal. The panoramic view is very very applicable to this scene, but as Jasper pointed out some of the animals are a bit too close to the edge. Maybe you could home in on the group on the left by cropping it panoramically and then cloning in/giving it (if you have it) a bit more space on the left side. Apart from that this is excellent! Well done
Thank you all for your suggestions and kind comments on this image......:)
Jasper ...yes maybe the image cud be enhanced by adding some canvas left and right..will give it ago ..I am sure there is thread somewhere on adding canvas.
Anita..thanks for comments ..will look up and post exif info.
Steve ..Tha Kalahari is the most amazing place to be....always seems to inspire me to write..i get a bit carried away sometimes...sorry:) i promise i wont subject you to my taste in music aswell...:D
Steve ,Robert and Krijin.... thanks for comments....but i think the cloning is a bit extreme in this case
Fabs and Robert,,,really please you love it as is....your congrats means alot:)
Hi Peter,
I remember you have posted this on NPN long time back and I remember it because I love this image! Jasper has got a point there though about the 'balance', did you make more images with slightly different compositions at this occasion?
