OK.....interesting debate going on in General forum about which is tougher.....Avian or Landscape Photography.. http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...204#post471204 ....so I offer this post as more fuel onto the fire. This was taken with James on the Hooptie Deaux a couple of weeks ago. James got us into position early and we had many opportunities with group and individual spoonies.......Let's just say I got more than a few keepers from this trip.......but this particular one was taken around 9am.....2 hours after sunrise with clear blue skies..quite a few more even later than that .....you know how many succesful landscape images I can make at that time???.....not many/if any or very very difficult!!!......go ahead.....join the debate!
Canon 1D Mark lll with the Sigma 300-800 @ 800mm for 1/4000 sec. at f8 and ISO 800 all tripod mounted/wimberly head .......standing in the water.
    PS Left room for Randy!!!:)

Roman, liked it a lot. I think vertical with more room below will also look good.

    Nice work, Roman !

The lavish colors are simply astounding!

I think I'd also favor a vert crop, especially if the reflections extend down enough.

Gorgeous preening moment, perfectly exposed and presented except...I want more real state at the bottom :)

Like it all the way around Roman.

I like the crop. If you did as Fabs suggested, I'm sure it would work also, as long as you added more to the top as well.

I was referring to virtual feet, I'm fine with the top.

Thanks all! No worries.....I have it, although it goes a bit pink.....which I can eliminate.....or better yet.....I'll post the vert with the loooooong reflection!

Pose and eye contact look great. Aside from room for the virtual legs, it could go a bit lighter for my taste.

It was a short spoonie:p...really my friend.....a midget one:D. Will do the rework as I agree on the virtual feet......what's your opinion on leaving the pink in?

I'm not crazy about those pink lines  not really reflections at all.
I'd be happy with all green like you have now.

    Hi Roman

Wonderful shot. Beautiful details on the bird. Needs cropping from the left to make a vertical image, as the empty canvas on the left is competing with the bird.

    Hey Roman:

Sorry I am late to the party, esp. when you left room for me:D

Lovely techs, nice pose. Now if you had only left a bit of room below for the feet.

    Cheers

    Randy

Love the contrast between the light feathers and the dark background. Would prefer slightly more room below.

The color and detail on the bird with the wonderful pose, makes this a great image.
