    Default Canned Lighting

I have decided to buy a new computer. My 7 year old HP with 1GB RAM is just a little weak to run PS and I am getting tired of having breakfast while it loads and taking a shower while it saves a TIF.

I understand the processor is important and wondered which of the currently available is the best for this application. 2.9+ speed would be nice.

HINT: dual core, quad core, i5, i7, 6GB, 8GB RAM - I am not a "gamer" and have a relativily high end audio system sourced by CD. My only application here is Photoshop.

If it were fast enough, I might be interested in running Genuine Fractals.

    Bill,
    This page might help:

Windows 7 64-bit with 8+ Gbytes of ram would be nice for photoshop, or equivalent in the mac world.

Thanks Roger. I read your monitor article at your site and have decided to go with an NEC P221W-BK 22, 10 bit of course for color calibration and claiming it covers 96% of the Adobe RGB color gamut from B&H.

    Landed on the HP 150t i5 quad 2.66 8mb cache / 8GB RAM (up grade) / 640GB H/D 7200 rpm / Windows 7 64 bit from H/P

Thanks as always for your timely advice - Bill
