Stephen, like the light angle and the shooting angle both. You have struck a good balance between space behind and in front of the bird. Excellent high SS to freeze the coot. they are fast. Loved that extended wing. Am a little surprised that the splash is not frozen at 1/3200s.

Nice all around, action exposure, composition, but what makes it for me is the display of the feet. I wish the near wing was a bit higher up, but the feet and their lighting makes it.
