    Default Great Blue Heron

    Taking in my backyard. Bird was close and I clipped the wings. Cropped a little more off wings to get a better comp.

    Too bad about the clipped wings. Personally, to savage a clipped-wings image, I think the only way is to "add" the missing parts back rather than crop more. Wish the shadow areas were brighter. It's unfortunate that the white area is blown. The bird looks sharp though.

    I don't mind the clpped wings with this crop - it looks pretty good. I do agree the shadows are a bit dark and the white on the head appears blown. You might be able to work it a bit with editing and improve both.

    Hi Rick - better light angle for my tastes - does look sharp - dont mind the composition. Whites might be able to be recovered from the raw - might need to do two conversion - one for the whites and one for the rest and then merge together.
