    Default Brant snacking on grass.

From late summer. An over-summering individual that did not feel like travelling up north to join his breeding buddies:). It was rather tame and offered nice portrait opportunities. It spent most of its time with its face stuck in the grass and would only lift it for a fraction of a second at a time. Pishing and squeaking noises helped in freezing it a bit longer for better poses.

I like this a lot. I like the composition, how the Brant is peeking in from the side. Great eye contact, head angle. The grass on the bill works well with the bacground. The only minor things are that I would like to see some more in focus grass under the birds head/bill and the sloping horizon seems to pull the whole picture down and to the right.

Very unusual pose for a portrait,
but it works well here IMO.
The grass in the bill is also something that
we usually try to get rid of, but in this image
combined with the grass at the bottom
makes it clear what the goose is up to:)
It adds to the feel of motion of the head.
Agree with Noah about including bit more
    grass/space at the bottom.

Hey Dan, well exposed with a -EC. I really like the detail on the head. Sharp, with a great eye and catchlight. The grass doesnt distract, as he feeding. The water BG adds to the overall image nicely. BTW, lovely low angle.

Hi Dan, very nice image here. This bird, and its pose, look familiar to me! ;)

I like the head angle, the grass on the bill and the blue BG from the pond.
