This is a Purple Allamanda (Allamanda Blanchetii) with a backlit view from inside of the petals. I was surprised how red the inside petals were. Used Canon G11 in macro mode with 1/100 sec, f/2.8, ISO 100. Adjusted for the levels and applied usm. All c&c will be appreciated...

A beautiful image! I might have liked the center of the flower a bit higher or maybe a bit lower but it's still nice as is.

Lovely exposure & colour contrast Indranil. Was just wondering if cropping off a wee bit on top and providing same space in the bottom would enhance the already excellent composition...

Gorgeous floral image, Indranil! A G10 you say? Excellent! I would push that yellow area down just a bit to get it out of the center - everything else is fabulous. Wonderful reds - not overpowering but nicely saturated. The yellow rays eminating from the center add so much visual interest...the whole image just seems to flow from one place to another. Love it!

Hi Julie, I found the new G11 handy for flower macros with its swivel screen! in addition to travel photography. Thanks for the suggestion. Here is a repost with off centered yellow...

Beautiful image Indranil and the repost is even better. Love the rays of yellow flowing from the center against the gorgeous red.:)

    Indranil,

Really like your use of colors on this one. It has such a soft feel to it. Here in Florida my Allamanda ( yellow ) has suffered from cold temperatures but will come back this summer.

My best photo friend just designed an underwater housing for the G11 to be used for inspections and cleanings on all Navy vessels . It's a great camera as the G10 was. You're photo proves the point.

    Thanks for sharing...
