This liitle fellow popped up right in front of me the other day. I added a bit of canvas on the right and i took a bit off the left. On this version I tried to bring out more details in the darker areas and not sure if I made it too light. 50D, 500mm at f/5.6, 1/2000, EC -.5, ISO400. Dave

    Dave:

I think these are the coolest guys. Can't get within 100 yards of them locally.

Nice head angle, like the drops, esp. the large one on the back.

I do think the whites are a bit hot, esp. on the head, and if I had to chose, with favor the whites over the blacks.
I think this might be a good use of Artie's linear burn tech.

I wouldn't mind having a bit more canvas back on the left.

    Cheers

    Randy

Super sharp, but agree with Randy about controlling the whites at the expense of a little black detail. Of course you can probably save both the whites and the blacks in PP.

Very cool duck. I havent got my first shot of it yet. The water droplet on the back is very nice. Loved the head turn and the catchlight.

A beautiful duck, a nice pose, and very sharp. The water drops are a plus. I would agree about the whites. IMO, you could make the colored portions of the head a little darker as they look a bit washed out to my eye. :)

Agree with everything above...would love to see a repost with the whites adjusted!

Those crazy whites. The whites are not blown out and do have some detail, but darned if I can get it to come out. I'll give it another shot and will leave more room on left as well. Dave

I am not sure how successful I have been. There appears to be a knob behind the bird's eye and i am not sure what this is. I do think there is more detail apparent in the head area.

Dave, your repost has worked out well. I really like the colours on the head, and the detail in the darker areas look good. The single droplet on the back puts this over the top for me.
