This is my first post with my new 1D Mark 4. The weather has been rather cruddy here lately so I haven't had a lot of chance to get out. Anyway, this is from a local lake.
The specs are that it is a crop representing only 25% of the original frame! I used my 500 f4 and 1.4 TC. Evaluative metering at ISO 400with f 5.6 and 1/3200 at EV - 1/3.
I realize it is not the best gull image, but at only 25% of the frame I think it is pretty good. I also found that the AF was great. Busy BG did not fool it. I have the AF tracking set to slow and I used center point AI Servo.
Nice 'walking on water' shot, Ed.
Some gray tail feather detail seems lost at photo-right on my monitor.
Droplets are cool, as is the excellent sense of motion.
I hope you like the camera, too. I noticed that hefty crops can hold details quite well. I like the feeding action and composition and wish for a lower angle.
