Like the composition as a portrait, definition in the feathers, exposure right on, and lovely smooth bg. I wondered about getting the bird to pop a bit more by increasing the contrast and increasing the sharpness some. But that may not be the effect you are looking for?

    Mark:

Very nice portrait, good exposure, nice background, eye.

Just for my personal taste, the contrast and sharpness are fine.

A tiny bit of noise in the background. Being an old film guy, it doesn't bother me, but some might prefer a bit of noise reduction there.

From a comp. point, if you have it, I would add a sliver to the right side.

    Cheers

Striking image, agree with Randy that maybe a little more canvas on the right would work. Also agree the image could benefit from some NR, personal taste though.

Mark....excellent portrait and I liked the composition. noise is a little surprising at iso 250. Did you lighten it in post-processing? If you were close to the bird and the BG far, then a smaller aperture would have been better....both for depth-of-field and sharpness. with iso 250 and 1/1000, you had the headroom.

Looking forward to more form you.
