Default One more American coot portrait

My biggest challenge in shooting coots last week was isolating them. This one gave me an opportunity. Bokeh is also mostly coot...with a little blue water. Evening light.

    40D. 400 f5.6 at f/8. iso 400. 1/500. hand held. Cropped for composition.

    All C&C welcome and appreciated.

Sharpness and exposure control look really good. I only find the dark area in the lower left a bit distracting.

Well done in the soft light. You might try darkening the pupil a bit.... I would have preferred a totally uniform BKGR with this species. You did well with the bill and the EXP.

Axel and Artie, thx a lot. I agree with the BG. I will visit them again and try to get one against a more uniform BG.
