    Default Canada goose

40D. 400 f/5.6. iso 400. f/7.1. 1/1000. exp. comp +2/3. almost full frame. contrast and color temp.adjustment in DPP. Light angle was not the best....but not too bad either.

    All opinions welcome.

I like the colours here - the BG looks very nice. Good HA. Darkening the pupil would be a good thing to do. Interesting comp...I think it works well despite so little of the body being included.

    Love the background and pose.

Exposure looks great. Actually, rather than darkening the eye as Daniel suggested, I might try just a little curves and a bit more sharpening on it?

Also, the neck itself perhaps was behind the plane of focus (or towards the back end of it) and you might do a little selective sharpening there?

Jim, it's not whole eye I'd like to see darkened...just the pupil (including removing the lighter spot in it).

Thx for taking the time guys. I will try that. will wait for other suggestions as well.

Daniel, I also have "just the neck and head" shot that I got after taking a few steps closer( yes...very cooperative dude) but I liked this comp with the little bit of body.

Kaustubh, The BG colors really addto this. The head angle is nice and the image is sharp.

Kaustubh, an excellent BKGR can make even common bird look amazing and thats what happened here.
Good exposure and sharpness. However I do feel a slight more inclusion of body would have made this pic from good to very good.

Here's the vertical frame I captured after moving in a few steps closer. Some might like it more.
