Lot of good things with this image Norman Excellent exposure and good light Whites look fine I also like the feather detail/color Angle is steep but not much you can do except going to a longer focal length A 600 and 2X will make it look different (still on the steep side) Also the point of focus is on the center of the bird Best to use one point and recompose !!!!
Alfred summarized the critique very well. It's hard to get a good perspective with a steep angle and 400mm focal length. Longer telephotos will have a flattening perspective working in your favor. Great exposure!

One of my favorite birds. Your feather detail is really, really good. If you can sharpen the eye just a little and add contrast to the beak I think it would take it up a notch. Nice image.
